Baseball season kicks off in earnest
It seems like just yesterday when the the New York Yankees defeated the Philadelphia Phillies in Game 6 of the World Series to take home the title in 2009, right? Well, maybe not, but in any event, the wait is over and the new season is now upon us. Last night there was one game to kick off the 2010 campaign, and it featured perhaps the best rivalry in all of sports, the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees. The Red Sox outlasted the Yanks to win by a score of 9-7 at Fenway Park, and today there is a full slate of games, several of which are taking place this afternoon.
Spring brings a sense of renewal along with it each year that is evident all around us as the weather warms up and the foliage starts to wake from its wintertime slumber, and the annual renewal of the traditional American pastime is indeed one of the hallmarks of the season.
