Eagles getting offers for McNabb

There are certain players in football that have extraordinary overall numbers throughout their career, including considerably more wins than losses on the field, that somehow seem like part of the problem rather than part of the solution. Statistics can be deceiving, and a quarterback can pile up numbers that look good overall, but fail to deliver in the biggest of situations and in so doing lose favor with the fans who follow the team very closely. Some will come to the player’s defense and decry the unfairness in this, but in the end, the goal of a good football team is to win championships, and if you aren’t doing that there is going to be some finger pointing.

Donovan McNabb of the Philadelphia Eagles is definitely one of these players. On the one hand he seems like a superstar who has led his team to a number of NFC Championship games. But on the other hand, his team has lost all but one of them and he simply has not stepped up and orchestrated that one big drive to put his team over the top. The Eagles are carrying three quarterbacks at the moment, including Kevin Kolb and Michael Vick in addition to McNabb, and coach Andy Reid say that teams around the league are showing interest in trading for the veteran from Syracuse.

“This is the truth: Our three quarterbacks are Philadelphia Eagles. People are entertaining us with offers. Nothing’s been done, but we’re evaluating all of them. That’s the truth. There’s not a lot really going on other than entertaining,” said Reid.

McNabb has accomplished a lot in Philly, but at this point, a change in scenery would probably behoove him and as well as the Philadelphia Eagles franchise.
