Google disclosing censorship and user info requests
We have all heard about the big flap between Google and the Chinese government where they finally had to pull out of the country due to the ethical differences between the two parties. Since then Google has decided to provide users with a tool that discloses the requests that have been made to censor certain web pages as well as government requests for personal user information.
This extends beyond the Google search engine and includes YouTube and other Google web properties. Google operates in about 100 different nations so the disclosure is broken down by country. The governments of Brazil and the United States made the most requests for user data over the six-month period that is being reported.
