Huggins says Bryant probably won’t play

It is tough for a young basketball player to help guide his team through a grueling regular season and much of the NCAA tournament and not get a chance to play in the biggest of games, but that is the fate that has befallen West Virginia point guard Darryl “Truck” Bryant. Bryant broke a bone in his foot during a March 23 practice and missed the Mountaineers’ Elite Eight matchup with Kentucky. His replacement, Joe Mazzulla, picked up the slack admirably and contributed 17 points in the 73-66 West Virginia win, and he is likely to get the nod again when the Mountaineers take the floor against Duke at about 9:00 pm EDT on Saturday.

The Duke/West Virginia contest is the second game of the evening. Preceding that game will be Michigan State vs. Butler, and tip-off for that one is scheduled for 6:05. If you are interested in knowing what the Las Vegas prognosticators think about the games, they’ve made Butler a 1 point favorite, and Duke is favored by 2 points over West Virginia, so if the odds are any indication these games are both tossups.
