Hummus recipe

It can be easy to get into a rut and wind up eating the same old things, and one way to branch out and experience different types of foods is to explore the ethnic cooking from around the world. Here in the United States, we have assimilated many the cuisines of most cultures to one extent or another, and that is one of the great things about the American “great melting pot.” You can drive or walk around a few block radius in many of our cities and have the opportunity to sample seemingly endless types of cuisine.

Going to restaurants to try different types of food prepared by people who are familiar with it is one thing, but taking the leap into making these dishes for yourself is another. Though it may be unfamiliar, it is actually a lot of fun to discover some food in a restaurant that you find to be delicious and then subsequently make it for yourself at home.

Hummus is a dip that is served with Mediterranean foods, and it is actually very tasty, healthy, natural, satisfying, and easy to make. It is generally served with Pita bread or as a dip for fresh vegetables. If you have never tried hummus, you are in for a treat!

Hummus Recipe

Ingredients

About 20 ounces of chickpeas
1/3 cup of tahini
1/4 cup of lemon juice
1/4 cup of water
Salt and pepper to taste
olive oil, chopped parsley, and paprika for garnish

Instructions

The beautiful thing about hummus is its simplicity. You just take the ingredients above and mix them together in a good processor until they reach the consistency of a smooth and spreadable paste. Transfer it to your favorite serving bowl and add the garnish on top, and you are ready to dip your pita bread (slicing then into points is recommended) and/or veggies.
