Is NPR “alternative” to mainstream media

There is little that any of us can do about the “sheeple” phenomenon, and it originates from a lack of education coupled with an education of disinformation at an early age. The fact is that there is probably always going to be a significant percentage of the population that is not aware enough to question the propaganda that the corporate media in America spews hour in and hour out. But they are not necessarily the crux of the problem.

It used to be that the news wires fed the media ongoing “scoops” from around the world via brave, intrepid, and truth seeking journalist who felt as though their job was to keep the politicians, the corporations, and the military honest. These days, that triad is one and the same. Corporations, their lobbyists, career military officers, politicians, and their appointees are all steadily walking through a series of revolving doors. And now, even the media has joined in quite overtly, with talking heads who bob in and out of the political arena like George Stephanopoulos, Mike Huckabee, Al Franken, Sarah Palin, etc. It’s all one big happy family.

So here’s the beef of the day: NPR. Don’t you love those “intellectuals” who listen to NPR and think that they are getting the “real” scoop when they air the news every hour? What a freakin’ joke…if you read the mainstream headlines throughout the day online, and then hear what NPR has to say, it’s all the same, and why shouldn’t it be? This is taken directly from NPR.org:

“Approximately half of NPR’s annual operating revenue is contributed from the private sector, primarily from corporations and foundations. “

The rest comes from the dupes who contribute to NPR, content with the fantasy that they are getting a message that is undiluted by corporate sponsorship. So it’s not those that just don’t understand that are the problem, they can be reached…it’s the educated hypocrites with their heads in the sand that are the real culprits.
