Lincecum off to rocky spring start

Baseball fans all realize that spring training is a time to get the kinks out, work on some new twists to your game, and slowly get yourself ready for the start of the regular season when things get serious. However, it is always nice to see your key players hit the ground running during the exhibition season, and that has not been the case for two-time Cy Young Award winner Tim Lincecum of the San Francisco Giants. Lincecum was shelled again yesterday in a 2 2/3 inning performance against the Seattle Mariners. His spring ERA stands at 9.82.

Giants manager Bruce Bochy predictably downplayed his ace’s poor outing:

“Off day. Timmy had a hard time getting the ball where he wanted. You’re going to have these days here, you know it. These fields, the sun, you’re going to have ugly games. That’s why we’re here.”

Something tells me he will have things straightened out by the time the Giants break camp. Click here to read a very good article about Lincecum.
