March is National Craft Month
Amid the kinetic hustle and bustle that some call a society (and others may call the “rat race”) we may too often find ourselves completely immersed in making a living and taking care of our basic needs, and then just zoning out in front of the television every night. As they say, we all gotta do what we gotta do to make ends meet, but many of us may tend to neglect the need to do something creative in our spare time.
When you go to these Chinese outlet stores like Walmart, and you see all of this imported, mass produced junk merchandise produced by people who make slave wages while their communist government rakes in profits, you may feel the urge to make something creative for yourself. Crafts are a great way to spend time constructively, do something creative, and come away with some unique expression of your own originality in the process.
The Craft and Hobby Association has sponsored the month of March as National Crafts Month, and they are trying to raise awareness of, and interest in, crafts and how enriching it is to engage in activities like quilting, sewing, knitting, crocheting, candle making, making jewelry, weaving, pressing and drying flowers, and so many other fun and rewarding crafts.
If you look around your living space and see nothing that is truly original and creative, and you find yourself bored and looking for something to do from time to time, perhaps you should take advantage of National Crafts Month and make March your time to embark on a fun new hobby! By the end of the month you will have something creative to show for your time spent, and you may find a lifelong pastime that you truly enjoy as you steadily improve and come up with more interesting and sophisticated
