Patronize local restaurants

Due to fixation that the American public has on television, businesses are for the most part not considered legitimate or trustworthy if you have not “heard of them” via the boob tube. This is the primary way that brands enter the public consciousness. Then when you go to the store, you recognize the things that you saw on television, and you connect the dots. They seem trustworthy and legitimate because you saw them on television, or on a corporate website, or in a magazine. The companies that you read and hear about in the business pages in newspapers, online and on TV are for the most part internationally owned and publicly held. But we somehow have come to “trust” these companies. Never mind the fact that their consolidation, insider trading, and global maneuvering have brought us to our knees and destroyed the American middle class, and with it, the American Dream. We trust them, because they are on television.

We talk over the breakfast table about the crooks in Washington and the bailouts and the outrage of outsourcing, but then we go to Pizza Hut for dinner, which is owned by Yum! Brands, a company that is heavily invested in China. At dinner, we wear a shirt and a pair of pants that were stitched together by virtual slave laborers who were paid pennies an hour doing something that we once did here for a living wage here at home. Then we go do some grocery shopping at a Walmart store that recommends that its employees, who are paid near poverty level wages, apply for Medicaid. The point is that we need to come to the realization that the companies that we have grown to “trust” due to their ubiquitous presence are actually the root cause of the eradication of the American way of life as we know it.

Don’t buy into this subtle brainwashing, and accept the fact that these soulless entities are the cause of the destruction of our republic, and the profits that they generate do more to serve the interests of foreign governments than the American people, or even needy folks overseas. The workers who do the bidding of the Chinese government are treated like slaves, and our own government bows to them as the holders of our massive debt. It’s time to reevaluate who you trust and why.
