Rams’ Vobora suspended 4 games for substance offence
St. Louis Rams linebacker David Vobora has been suspended for four games after testing positive for performance-enhancing substances.
The NFL said Vobora had violated the league’s policy on banned substances, but provided no further details in a statement Tuesday. The suspension is effective until October 26.
Vobora’s agent Marc Lillibridge said on NFL.com that his client had failed a drug test after taking a supplement tainted with the banned substance.
Lillibridge said that, subsequently, his client would sue the company that made the supplement and that a toxicology report showed the product had indeed been contaminated.
Rams head coach Steve Spagnuolo called Vobora’s situation “unfortunate.”
“He has been a vital part of our team and we are disappointed that we will be without him for the next four games,” he said; “however, we respect the league’s decision in this matter.”
Vobora made his second NFL career start last Sunday in the Rams’ home-loss against the Green Bay Packers.
